Philadelphia, April 27, 2018 – “As Chair of Council’s Committee on Global Opportunities and the Creative/Innovative Economy, and a Korean-American, I am pleased to learn of the historic summit between South Korean President Moon Jae-In and North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un, that occurred on April 27th, 2018, to begin the process of restoring peace in the Korean peninsula by negotiating a path towards denuclearization and ending the Korean War.
“Hope has been ignited in a country that has been overshadowed by war for nearly 70 years. As the son of Korean immigrants who survived WWII and the Korean War, I am aware of the pain caused by separated families and loved ones, as well as the anxiety caused by the imminent possibility of war. If all goes well, families and loved ones may be reunited, and peace will be the norm, rather than the dream.
“I am grateful that veterans of the Korean War will have the opportunity to witness the end of the war and the beginning of peace.”
