Woman carrying a boxed fan PHILADELPHIA, PA — Councilwoman Cherelle L. Parker (9th District) distributed 100 fans to senior citizens this week as part of her annual 9th District Fan Giveaway.

The fans, which are donated by Walmart Stores, were particularly timely this year with temperatures in the 90s for much of the week.

“We’re always looking for ways to provide assistance to our neighbors, and one of the ways we do that during the hot summer months is with our fan distribution,” Parker said. “While many of us are fortunate to have central air condition in our homes or jobs, many of our seniors do not, and the extreme humidity and high temperatures are especially harmful for them. We are very grateful to our partner, Walmart Stores, for helping us to provide this small measure of relief to our constituents.”

This is the ninth consecutive year of the fan giveaway, which Parker began in 2011 when she was a state representative.
