Philadelphia City Council President Kenyatta Johnson (Second District) released the following statement:

I want to commend Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker, AFSCME District Council 33 (DC 33) President Greg Boulware and their teams for coming together to reach an agreement that ends the strike.

Strikes are never easy for neither our workforce nor City operations, and certainly not for the 1.5 million Philadelphia residents who depend on the services DC 33 provides each day.

DC 33’s more than 9,000 members are a vital part of Philadelphia city government, and their work is truly invaluable, admirable, and essential to the health and wellness of all Philadelphians.

I also recognize the strain these disruptions have placed on families and neighborhoods. I am happy that DC 33 members are going back to work and again providing essential services to Philadelphians so that life in our city gets back to normal as quickly as possible.
