TRAGIC FIRE CLAIMS LIVES IN STRAWBERRY MANSION
Councilmember Jeffery Young, Jr. Offers Condolences to Grieving Families as Investigation Continues

On the morning of June 13, 2025, our community awoke to heartbreaking news. A devastating fire on the 2500 block of North Corlies Street in Strawberry Mansion has claimed three lives, including an expectant mother and two young children, four- and five-years-old.

Two other individuals, a woman and a young child, were able to escape the fire by jumping from a window. They remain in the hospital receiving care, and we are keeping them in our thoughts as we hope for their full recovery.

This is a heartbreaking tragedy, and my deepest condolences go out to the families who are now facing an unimaginable loss. I remain committed to supporting the impacted families and to working with city agencies to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragedy. We must do everything in our power to prevent this kind of loss from occurring again.

I extend my sincere gratitude to the Philadelphia Fire Department and the first responders who acted swiftly under incredibly dangerous circumstances.

As additional information becomes available, I ask that we come together as a community to support the grieving families and honor the lives that were lost.
