Philadelphia City Council offers interpreters at public hearings and council stated meetings by advance request. Requests for an interpreter must be submitted four (4) days prior to the council stated meetings or committee hearing. For weekly city council stated meetings, requests must be submitted by 3 pm on the Friday before to ensure we have enough time to secure interpretation in the requested language(s). Interpreters will interpret all official conversations during the session and will assist the speaker in interpreting any comments they would like to make during public hearing or public comment. To request an interpreter, call 215-686-3406 and provide:
- Full name
- Requested Language, select from this list: Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) , French, Haitian Creole, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese*
- Date and time of the council session or hearing
* The language list has been created based on the most commonly spoken languages in Philadelphia and the availability of interpreters. If you need interpretation in a language not on this list, please submit your request at least two (2) weeks before the selected council meeting.
