PHILADELPHIA – January 16 – Councilwoman Cindy Bass (8th District) comments on the December 27 officer involved shooting death of Dennis Plowden, Jr. in Germantown.

“I offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Dennis Plowden, Jr., who was shot and killed by police on December 27, 2017. He was a son, grandson, and father of two young children, and I recognize that any loss of life is significant and should be taken seriously.

Soon after the incident I spoke with law enforcement about the circumstances of the shooting. I intend to stay informed as the investigation continues to ensure that it is objective, transparent, and comprehensive. The community has questions, and it is critical that we get answers.

I will continue to keep Mr. Plowden’s family in my thoughts and prayers while working to open the lines of communication between police officers and the residents they serve. It is imperative that we all work together to strengthen community bonds and restore the safety of our streets. It is also my sincere hope that justice will unfold in a manner which gives peace and comfort to the family of Mr. Plowden and the citizens of Philadelphia.”
