COUNCILMAN O’NEILL TO HOLD FOX CHASE LIGHTING DEDICATION HONORING FIREFIGHTER DANIEL SWEENEY

PHILADELPHIA–On Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 6:30PM, Councilman Brian O’Neill along with IAFF Local 22, Fox Chase Rec. & Soccer Club, and Fox -Rok A.A.will hold a field lighting dedication ceremony at Fox Chase Field #1 in honor of fallen firefighter and Fox Chase resident, Daniel Sweeney.

Two years ago, Field #1 a long with a new backstop was dedicated in honor of Firefighter Sweeney. Now, the new field lighting system will provide baseball and soccer game – quality lights to the Sweeney field complex. A softball game will be played on the field immediately following the program. Daniel Sweeney was 25 – years – old and a six-year veteran of the Philadelphia Fire Department (Ladder Company 10) when he died in the line of duty protecting the citizens of Philadelphia from a five-alarm fire in East Kensington. Sweeney is remembered for his great love of his work, and the pride he took in performing beyond the call of duty. The Daniel Sweeney Memorial Scholarship Fund has been created in his memory.
