PHILADELPHIA, January 18, 2018Councilman Derek Green (At Large) weighed in on the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection’s place on the shortlist of the final 20 North American cities contending for Amazon’s second headquarters.

“I couldn’t be more pleased with this morning’s news that Philadelphia has made it to Round Two of the Amazon HQ2 bid process. Weeks of strategic planning leading up to the proposal submission, as well as after, are paying off. While we understand that there are many strong contenders for the site, and the final decision is still months away, I believe our overall economic future looks very promising.

“The Special Committee on Regulatory Review and Reform has made significant progress over the last several months, in the streamlining of business procedures in the City to make Philadelphia more attractive to both small and big businesses. Together with the Kenney Administration, the Commerce Department, the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia and the rest of our partners, we will continue to work toward achieving those goals; thus, setting the stage for the culmination of this ongoing moonshot moment.”
