PHILADELPHIA –8/21/2013 City Councilman Brian O’Neill and non-profit Cell Phones for Soldiers Inc. are asking Philadelphia residents to help troops call home by donating their gently-used cell phones. Beginning today, residents can donate their old phones at either of Councilman O’Neill’s neighborhood offices.

Funds raised from the recycling of cellular phones are used to purchase pre-paid international calling cards. So far, the charity has provided more than 114 million minutes of free talk time to service men and women stationed around the world. Cell Phones for Soldiers distributes 12,000 calling cards each week to military bases, care package programs, deployment ceremonies and VA hospitals.

To donate your gently-used phone or if you have any questions about the program, please call or visit Councilman O’Neill at either Bustleton Ave. & Bowler St. (215-685-0432)  or the new FOP Heroes Hall at 11630 Caroline Rd. (215-437-9167).
