PHILADELPHIA – City Councilmember Brian O’Neill has introduced legislation to increase the fines for illegally parked semitrailers, truck tractors, and other vehicles. The bill, co-sponsored by Councilmembers Mike Driscoll and Anthony Phillips, will raise the fine from $300 to $500.
This fine increase will also apply to the parking of a boat, motor home, truck camper, or vending cart for more than 30 days.
“Maintaining the appearance of our Far Northeast neighborhoods has always been one of my top priorities”. “Hopefully, these fines will cut down on the number of these vehicles parking in our residential neighborhoods” said O’Neill, who’s offices have been inundated with requests due to an increase in illegal truck and tractor trailer parking in the Far Northeast.
O’Neill’s office is also working with local police districts and the PPA to crack down on this activity and to have the vehicles ticked and towed.
To report an illegally parked semitrailer, truck tractor, or other vehicle, or, to testify in support of this legislation, call O’Neill’s office at 215-686-3422 or email [email protected]
