ICYMI: Councilman Kenyatta Johnson (2nd District) recently introduced a bill that would provide a tax credit against Business Income and Receipts Taxes (BIRT) for businesses that purchase and install video surveillance cameras.  The credit would be worth $1,000 or 50% or the cost of the system, whichever is less, and would be available to businesses with cameras that face the public right of way and register with the Philadelphia Police Department’s SafeCam program.
