Council’s Education Committee Holds Hearings on Boston Consulting Group’s Report

On Monday, November 26th, 2012, at 10:00 a.m., in City Council Chambers, City Hall, Room 400, the City Council Committee on Education held a hearing on the Boston Consulting Group’s report, Transforming Philadelphia’s Public Schools: Key Findings and Recommendations, the School District of Philadelphia’s Five Year Financial Plan: Fiscal Years 2013-2017; and the School District’s plan for its facilities including, but not limited to, school closures;

Education Committee Chair – Councilwoman Jannie L. Blackwell, said of the eight-hour hearing, “We were overjoyed at the opportunity to meet with Dr. Hite and members of the School Reform Commission to discuss the future of public schooling in Philadelphia.”

Attending committee members included (pictured L to R above) Councilman Mark Squlla, Councilman David Oh, Majority Leader – Councilman Curtis Jones Jr., Majority Whip – Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds-Brown, Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell, and Councilwoman Maria Quinones-Sanchez. 

Also pictured is Philadelphia School Superintendent – Dr. William Hite who offered testimony.
